Frequently asked questions

Which background certificate should I translate?

The one the receiving institution asks for. Some ask only for the police certificate; others also ask for the Procuraduría or Contraloría certificates. Check their document list.

Does the certificate expire?

Many institutions require a recently issued certificate. Confirm the maximum age with them before obtaining it and requesting the translation.

Do I need an apostille?

It depends on the destination country and institution. If your procedure requires it, we can coordinate the apostille before Colombia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs; tell us when you request your quote.

What do I need to get a quote?

The PDF or a clear photo of the complete certificate. The quote tool asks a few short questions and gives you the quote.

How long does the translation take?

It depends on how many documents you have and whether you need an apostille. The delivery date appears in your quote.

Semántico provides translation services, not immigration or legal advice. Each institution sets its own requirements; check the current instructions for your procedure.
