Frequently asked questions

Why do I need an official translation?

In Colombia, documents in another language are submitted with their official Spanish translation (Article 251 of Law 1564 of 2012, General Procedure Code). Each institution confirms which documents it needs.

Do my documents need an apostille?

Generally, the Colombian institution asks for the foreign document to be apostilled or legalized in the issuing country. That step happens there, before translation; confirm with the institution.

Is the apostille translated too?

Yes. We translate the complete document, including the apostille, stamps, and annotations.

What do I need to get a quote?

Clear photos or PDFs of each document, complete and showing every side. The quote tool works in English and Spanish.

How long does the translation take?

It depends on how many documents you have and their length. The delivery date appears in your quote.

Semántico provides translation services, not immigration or legal advice. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, notaries, and each institution set their own requirements; check the current instructions for your procedure.
