Frequently asked questions

Do my Colombian documents need translation for Spain?

Not if they are in Spanish. Procedures before Spain's General State Administration are conducted in Spanish, so translation is needed for documents in other languages, such as English.

Which translations does Spain consider official?

According to Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, official translations include those by sworn translators appointed by that ministry, which are valid without further legalization, and those by Spanish diplomatic or consular missions.

Is an official translation made in Colombia accepted?

It depends on the institution. Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns that translations made abroad may not be accepted by some Spanish authorities. For recognition of non-university studies, Spain's Ministry of Education accepts a translation by an official translator abroad whose signature has been legalized. Confirm with the institution before requesting a quote.

Does the translation need an apostille?

Official Spanish sources require the signature of a translator abroad to be legalized; between Colombia and Spain, that legalization is done with an apostille. If your procedure requires it, tell us when you request your quote.

How long does the translation take?

It depends on how many documents you have and whether you need an apostille. The delivery date appears in your quote.

Semántico provides translation services, not immigration or academic advice. Each Spanish institution sets its own requirements; confirm them before ordering the translation.
